Liddy Scheffknecht

In her photographic sequences, videos, installations, light and shadow projections Liddy Scheffknecht explores the relation between temporality and perception, thereby creating and breaking illusions at the same time. In her works she expands the temporality of the photographic standstill through video projections. The result is a medial hybrid between the static and the moving image and between the photographic and the filmic medium. Besides computer based image techniques the artist uses analogue light and shadow projections that are created through direct solar irradiation.

Liddy Scheffknecht, born 1980 in Dornbirn, lives and works in Vienna. Her works were presented in solo shows at Remise Bludenz and Georg Kargl Fine Arts (2016), at the Galerie der Stadt Wels (2015), at Kunsthaus Graz (2012) and at Georg Kargl BOX (2011). She participated further at group shows at the Kunsthaus Nexus, Saalfelden (2016), in the Austrian Cultural Forum Warsaw (2015), Albertina, Vienna (2014), Kunstpavillon Innsbruck (2014), Haus der Fotografie in Oberbayern (2014), Kunstraum Niederösterreich (2013), Kunstforum Montafon (2012), Edith-Russ-Haus für Medienkunst in Oldenburg (2012), the 4th International Sinop Biennial in Turkey (2012), Tokyo Wonder Site Hongo in Tokyo (2011), and in the 2nd Moscow International Biennial for Young Art (2010).
